Google Business Profile Posts: The Free Local SEO Most Owners Skip

Your Google listing has a posts feed. Almost nobody uses it. Here is what to post there, how often, and why it matters more than your Instagram for "near me" searches.

When someone searches "barber near me" they do not open Instagram. They see a map with three businesses on it and pick one. That map listing is your Google Business Profile, and it has a feature most owners have never opened: posts. Here is why they matter and what to put there.

Why Google posts matter

What to post

  1. What is new. A menu item, a service, a product. Photo plus two sentences.
  2. Offers. "Show this post for..." Works well because the person is already searching for you.
  3. Events. Anything with a date. Google shows these prominently.
  4. The same reels and photos you already made for Instagram. Reuse everything.
  5. Answers to the question people ask when they call. "Yes, we take walk-ins Tuesday through Thursday."

How often

Once a week is plenty. Google posts expire from the main view after a while, so a weekly rhythm keeps something fresh in the listing without becoming a chore. Pair it with your regular filming day and it is a two-minute add-on.

Three things to do this week

  1. Claim and verify your listing if you have not. Search your business name on Google and look for "Own this business?"
  2. Add ten real photos: the outside, the inside, the work, the team. Listings with photos get more clicks.
  3. Write your first post: what you do best, one photo, and the sentence you say to every new customer.

The part most guides miss

Reviews and posts work together. A listing with a fresh post next to a fresh review looks like a business with momentum. Ask for a review at the moment a customer is happiest, usually right when they see the result, and post something new the same week.
